Litigation material is privileged, and you'll want to know exactly how it's handled before you put a client's case in front of any software. Rather than overclaim, here is the posture as it stands today, and where it's headed.
The posture
A client's material — emails, contracts, filings, texts — is used to assemble their case file and for nothing else. It isn't sold, shared, or used to train anyone's models, and it stays the client's to hand to you.
The model work happens under terms you set with us — what's used, where it runs, and what's retained. We'd rather agree the arrangement explicitly with each firm than make a blanket promise we'd have to qualify later.
Nothing is asserted without a verbatim quote and a path to the document behind it. That's a security property as much as a quality one: there's no black box of conclusions to audit — only claims you can open and verify against the record.
Our security and compliance story is maturing alongside the product. We'll be precise about what's in place today and what isn't yet — and we won't claim a certification we don't hold.
Honest status
We'd rather show you a candid checklist than a wall of badges. If a box matters to your firm and isn't ticked yet, that's exactly the conversation to have with us.
On privilege
Because the client does the workup and the work product is delivered to counsel, Matterfile is built to sit inside the relationship you already have — not alongside it.
How privilege is preserved depends on facts only you can assess for a given matter and jurisdiction. We won't offer legal advice about your own privilege; we will be transparent about how the product handles material so you can make that call. When in doubt, that's a conversation we want to have early.
